New Location, New Name, New Website, New BLOG

It has been an exciting journey, sometimes a little overwhelming, completing and opening our new photography studio located in Park Ridge. My dear husband John, my kids – Jay, Ellen & fiancée Chris and I have put countless hours of sweat equity to complete the new space. A big thank you for all that helped including Ed & Denise.

We are still in the process of completing those finishing touches and hanging prints on the walls. Soon I will post images of the new space. Our front sign construction has started and hopefully it will be completed by the open house. Every morning when I turn those keys, walk in the front door, I can’t help but do a little “happy dance” of joy. This is a dream studio space with so much to offer for my clients to customize your session especially for YOU!

Not only did we relocate, we have also adopted a new business name: poppyblue photography LLC. Many have questioned how we came up with the name “poppyblue”. So many names and URL are not available, so John and I brainstormed coming up with poppyblue. We think it is an upbeat name you would hear once or twice and remember it.

Friday evening on October 1 we will be having our Grand Opening Celebration. Details soon to follow.

There is nothing like the beauty of springtime in Chicago. The trees are all abloom, tulips everywhere, the grass is so green. Now isn’t this a gorgeous backdrop for a family portrait? I can’t wait for this family to see their images from this fun session.

Cuddle Time — Chicago Dog Photography

This session was indeed special. Colby and Zach got engaged the evening before their session! They are such a wonderful couple. Their sweet dogs also joined in for the engagement session all dressed for the occasion wearing their favorite Illini tie. The first image made me chuckle and melted my heart. There is nothing like a BIG dog who thinks they are a lap dog. I have one of those too in my home.

Autumn is the most beautiful time to do family portraits. It was well worth all of the reschedules with our rainy Fall. I think Mom & Dad are going to be thrilled with this sessions images.

Perfectly Coordinated – Chicago Family Photography

This family is the perfect example on how to select and coordinate clothing for family portraits. Kudos to Mom, Debbie, for doing such a fabulous job. I am so blessed to photograph such wonderful families, such as this family. Here are a few from that session and also one of their hs senior. The session started out with great weather and suddenly the rain clouds appeared, ending with thunderstorms. *sigh* It has been a challenge getting in all of the outdoor sessions with our wet and very dreary, gray Fall.

My blog posts have been nonexistent the last 6 weeks between traveling, co-instructing a photography workshop and getting the flu. I am trying to get back in the groove of posting again. My apologies to my clients who were not featured.
